An Opportunity Awaits! - Beginning in August, Sacred
Heart Religious Education program will need one teacher for our 8th grade
class. This class has approximately ten
students and will be a rewarding experience for whoever is available to help
out our program. If you are that person,
please call Anita Collier at 806-3723.
Confirmation classes will be
offered this fall and spring for any students not yet confirmed and must be at least 14 years of
age by March 10, 2012 (the date of confirmation). Parents will need to decide if their child is
mature enough and ready to receive this sacrament at this time. We offer these
classes every other year in conjunction with Paris, so younger students may
benefit more by waiting until they are older to participate and receive the
sacrament of Confirmation later on.
These classes will begin on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 in Paris from
6:30-8pm, leaving Sacred Heart Hall promptly each Wednesday at 6pm. Also
attending these classes will be students from Ratcliff, Altus, Scranton and
Paris. Before classes begin, every student attending these classes must provide
a copy of their baptismal record to Anita Collier. Copies can be made in the office on the
Wednesday night of registration (August 17th), or any Wednesday
night up until September 14th .
At least one parent should attend this first meeting on September 14th,
and enough parents will be needed to drive every Wednesday night to transport
the students to Paris. We will also need table leaders for the discussion
groups, so if any parents are interested, please let Anita know.
Vacation Bible School is July 25th -29th,
7-9pm. If you have any questions please call Nancy at 965-6030.
RCIA: If you or someone you know is
interested in understanding the Catholic Faith better and/or in joining the
Church please contact Mark Verkamp at 479-965-6255 for information about RCIA.
Classes will be starting soon.
Thanks to all those who have
donated to the Honduran school project! As of July 20th we have collected $9132
which is a great amount but it will still take another $8000 to finish the
school. This total includes $800 raised by the ladies in the community where
the school will be built. The Fundraising dinner netted $700 for the school,
the raffle and some cash donations for bags of leftover meat was $400, St.
Anthony Church voted to donate $500 and we received two other donations
totaling $350. If you would like to donate to help this school become a reality
for some of Jesus’s children you can drop it off at the church office. Thanks
again!
